Premiere of Pokerface on Peacock

Today is finally Friday.

It is the end of a work week and the start of a weekend.

Working in the same cubicle for 8 hours a day has the magic of turning everything into a blur. Every day feels the same and nothing seems to spark joy. The weekend is the sole source of motivation that gets you out of bed.

6 PM. Now it’s time to do the last chore of the week: driving home. Being stuck in stand-still traffic, there is nothing else to do but sit with your thoughts. This is when your imagination goes wild, and escapism takes a real-life form.

You imagine yourself going off the grid and traveling around the Midwest in your muscle car. You are somehow on the run from a hitman looking for blood and become the main character of your own Hollywood series. One day you are working at a famous local BBQ restaurant, the other, you are going on tour with a one-hit-wonder rock band.

No one knows who you are, and no one cares to find out.

Of course, every Hollywood show comes with a twist: every stop you make, a death coincidentally follows. You have to find the killer before the cops lead the case astray. Someone you know has committed an unforgivable sin and is hiding in plain sight. With the keen power to detect lies, you try to find the murderer before leaving on your next journey.

Don’t forget. You still have a hitman following your every move and a grave with your name carved in it.

BUT. As things were just about to get intense, you snap out of your thoughts to find yourself in your garage. You are no longer freely driving around the country and now have a two-day stopwatch counting down the time before you must go back to the same office cubicle.

Coming back to reality always creates a sense of emptiness.

Once you get home, you turn on the TV to find a mystery show that can emulate the same emotions of excitement and thrill. You don’t want to re-watch the same crime-solving detective duo for the third time. The desire to watch something different and fresh is stronger than ever before.

If this is you, you have come to the right place. Check out the latest mystery series Poker Face, starring Natasha Lyonne, this Friday night on Peacock. You are the main character of your life. Go where possibilities are endless.
